Architect. Strategist. Design Advocate. 25+ years shaping the world's most complex hospitality and resort developments.
James P. Horvath, AIA brings a quarter-century of architectural expertise to Horvath Strategic Architectural Management LLC (HSAM), specializing in hospitality and large-scale project leadership. Since relocating to Las Vegas in 2006, James has navigated the complexities of landmark developments, previously serving as a Partner at a prominent Las Vegas architectural firm.
He founded HSAM to address a critical industry need: Design Management. By bridging the gap between high-level design intent and technical execution, James ensures that a project's original vision remains intact through seamless operational delivery.
His training and early experience with The Walt Disney Company provided a foundational insight that has defined his entire career: operational efficiency and the guest experience are not in conflict — they are inseparable. This philosophy informs every project he touches, from the earliest concept through construction close-out.
A graduate of Kent State University and a recognized leader in the Nevada architectural community, James serves as the President of the Nevada Architects Foundation and is a past President of AIA Las Vegas — a position he has held for two separate terms.
His career is defined by a dual commitment: to architectural integrity in the built environment, and to mentoring the next generation of design professionals seeking licensure.
James's dedication extends beyond commercial practice into the architectural community. He has served on the AIA Las Vegas Board of Directors for eight years in various roles, including President for two separate terms — a record of sustained community leadership that reflects both his commitment and the trust of his peers.
He is also a dedicated mentor to intern architects seeking licensure, believing that the profession's future depends on experienced practitioners investing in the next generation.
Every great project begins with a vision — a set of ideas that give it commercial and experiential purpose. That DNA must be protected at every phase. Without an architect in the room who can speak to that intent, it erodes under budget pressure.
You cannot manage what you don't understand. HSAM brings the technical depth to translate between design teams, contractors, and owners — eliminating the miscommunications that cost time and money.
Buildings are built in the design process, not the field. Catching a problem in a drawing costs a fraction of resolving it in construction. HSAM's value is delivered upstream — where it matters most.
